Last night - Marshall was crying at 3:30 and Chris went in to comfort him and Marshall just could not be soothed. Then he started screaming out "Ma-Ma" about 3 -4 times. So there was definitely no mistaking that he knows what the word means. Then to Daddy's utter disappointment and Mommy's total elation, he immediately stopped crying and settled down to sleep after I put him in his arms. :-)
Week 26: BACK OFF DADDY, YOU BABY HOG! :-)
April 26, 2008
Yep - the Mommy is starting to get a little jealous. :-) This scenario feels oddly familiar... like when we only had Kohl and after we got married, Kohl would ONLY bond with Chris and would snub me. So I said I want my own puppy - and Chris said "No" - but his new wife wore him down easily and no sooner do we move into our new home than we get Molly. Who is Chris' dog through and through (and Kohl came running back to me).
Daddy just can't get enough of his baby boy. Daddy is quite the snuggler and when he sees that Marshall is in the snuggly mood too, he'll swoop in and steal him from the Mommy. Marshall loves his Daddy though. Marshall thinks he is so funny. He just sees Chris and his face lights up. The funniest is when Marshall watches him and Chris doesn't know it. Chris will walk in and out of rooms doing chores (because the Mommy is a bad housekeeper) and then Chris will reappear and Marshall's whole body will just JUMP in delight and anticipation!
Of course, "Dada" is one of Marshall's favorite words (I think he said "Mama" once when he was in his screaming fit but he immediately stuffed his own binky into his mouth so I couldn't tell). Chris says that I should tell the story about how sweet Marshall was at 4 a.m. when he first said "Dada." Chris had just finished rocking him and feeding him and laid him down in his crib, when Marshall sleepily said "Dada."
Now you can see why Daddy's are more fun. They will do whatever it takes to get their babies to stop crying. (NOTE: The Red eyes from fussing with the Mommy - he's smart, he knows when I'm rocking him to sleep for bedtime)

Week 25: Oh the pain...
April 20, 2008
It's tough becoming six months old!! What a painful week (for all of us). Marshall has four teeth coming in, two bottom teeth and two molars. Needless to say we all have not had enough sleep.
In addition, Marshall had his 6 month check-up and three shots in his legs. He weighed in at 15 lbs. 7 oz. and 27 inches long. He grew 3 inches in the last two months alone and is now in the 75th Percentile for his height! And despite as much solid food as he has been eating is still in the 25th Percentile for his weight. But we are perfectly fine with that since he is such an active baby, he probably consumes a lot of calories throughout the day!
Despite the harrowing nights this week, he is still such a happy and fun baby throughout the day.
Daddy is so much fun to play with. You can see that he likes to be scared a little.
Marshall also had his first school pictures taken. Chris, being the sentimental guy, picked up the pictures to mark the occasion of Marshall's first "school pictures." They were not good, so I promptly returned them to the photographer (after I scanned them into the computer "to mark the occasion") the next day to get our money back. The photographer said he wasn't surprised I was returning them since he distinctly remembered my child as having a melt down shortly after the photo was taken. Awesome.
Here are some additional photos from this week:When he's tired while he's eating his bottle, he'll cover his eyes with this little dramatic pose.
Playing with "Marshall in the mirror."
What baby doesn't love making a mess!
Oh, Thomas the Train is VERY interesting to read before bed time!
Week 24: Family, Family, and more Family
April 13, 2008
Wow - What a busy weekend! What a fun baby. He is starting to really get into his routine. He really set the routine and Chris and I are just along for the ride. We just act upon his cues and he is such a happy baby for it.
He's funny because he thinks its so funny when Mommy and Daddy try to "scare" him. As my Mom said - that kid is going to love roller coasters.
Mr. Entertainment was so excited to get to go to Chuck-e-Cheese's to celebrate his cousin's 6th birthday! So many lights, colors and children, make for a very happy baby. He was just so happy to be held by his MiMi. Here he is helping her eat her pizza. It takes two hands to eat one of these; they are tricky...
Then he was excited to get to see his YaYa (my mom), his Great Grandma and Grandpa, his Aunt Rebecca and Uncle Robert and his cousins, Sierra and Amelia!

Great-Grandma Monte and Mommy. We see where Marshall gets his bright blue eyes from!

What a great cousin Marshall has. He loved spending time with Amelia. She is a great big sister to Sierra too!
Uncle Robert and cousin Sierra, who just loves to give kisses to Marshall!
More Kisses!
Maybe one more for the baby....

YaYa is a lot of fun too!

Week 23: To Entertain. To BE Entertained.
April 5, 2008
He is also so very interested in his doggies. He especially like Kohl who is very patient with him. He is just excited to get some attention. Marshall sometimes will pull on his ears/face roughly and instead of snapping or biting, Kohl will lick Marshall's face unitl he lets go. What an awesome dog. Boris will still occassionally do a random kiss to the face, but in typical Boris style, will not stick around for further affection. Molly is very loving but too much so. She kisses way TOO much - to the point of annoyance.
Marshall also loves being close to his Grandparents. His Grandpa-Ha takes some really amazing photos of his facial expressions. Here are some of his photos showcased below:
