Week 15: I Can't Keep My Hands Out Of My Mouth

February 9, 2008

Oh Marshall's Hands are constatnly in his Mouth this week. He is just likes rubbing his new tooth. Its the only thing right now that he is really coordinated at getting into his mouth.

Marshall also has started to laugh a lot. He is very ticklish now. His laugh also comes out when we play his favorite game...pat-a-cake:

Marshall also loves to join along in Mommy's horrible singing.

Week 14: Mommy, Please Let Me Play With My Pooh!

February 2, 2008

Winni the Pooh that is!

Marshall loves his Winne the Pooh (thanks Mimi). Probably because his nose fits easily into his mouth. Which helps to alleviate this new sensation in his mouth - a little tooth poking through!! I think he likes the feel of the texture against his cheek, too.
Marshall also likes to play with the ball his Mimi got him.

There is nothing more enjoyable to the little guy than some company about his size. He just loves to play with Kids. He especially likes to "talk" to his cousin Katherine. And play with Cars with cousin Cody...
Or just sit around in a baby bouncer with cousin Caroline.
Marshall also likes spending time at Mimi and GrandpaHa's House. Mimi is a funny lady.

Week 13: My little Simon Cowell

January 26, 2008

Well Mr. Marshall has certainly become quite enamored by the TV. He just loves to watch it. He likes to especially talk to it during American Idol!! He is very expressive when the weirdos and less talented contestants are performing. Although I think he responds to it because it reminds him of his not so talented mommy's performances around the house (which he finds quite amusing and Chris might find a little annoying)! As you can see from the photo, he is watching TV from across the Room! I think he inherited this "TV Junkie" trait from his Mommy...

Normally Marshall doesn't do very well with Tummy Time, but we have found that when we put under him a part of the Christmas present from his Aunt and Uncle, as well as put him on the couch (which is eye level with the TV), he seems to enjoy it more. I think he also likes it so he can watch the doggies as well.

His feet are really fun to watch. It's like they are little hands expressing themselves as he talks or does his activities.

I got a little bit of it on camera (when I bring out the camera to capture his laughing and talking he immediately stops and just stares at the camera - it certainly become more and more tricky as he gets older!):

I'm Three Months Old!

January 20, 2008

As you can see from some of the photos this week, what a fun baby Marshall has become! He has a very fun and entertaining quality about him. Which made it difficult for me to go back to work and miss spending all day with him.

His first week at school went really well for him. It was probably hardest on me (and Chris) than it was for him. When I came and did surprise visits on him throughout the week, I found that he was just having so much fun. He really enjoys watching the other kids in his class. In fact he got mad at me for interfering with his line of sight onto the other kids. He also insisted upon being fed in a way that he could watch the other kids rather than me. He has a little girlfriend in his class who is just 18 days older than him, Caila, and they enjoy playing with each other. When they were lying under their play gym together he started rubbing her head and she fell asleep (just like what daddy does to Marshall).

He also has started to try to lift his head a lot from sitting position as well as starting to roll over. Although he still doesn't like his tummy time as much.

At home and at school, he really enjoys toys. His favorite toy at the house is his piano. He just was so excited to discover that he can make noise. We are also finding that he is starting to try to laugh more. Maybe in the next few weeks we can coax a full blown laugh. We still haven't found any tickle spots yet either but you know that his daddy will be really excited when he finds that!

Week 11: I have hands!

Well Marshall made a great discovery this week. His hands! He was so excited about finding them this week. He tried to put both hands into his mouth at the same time and scratched his nose in his enthusiasm. Some other developmental milestones include his first laugh (through pat-a-cake of course) and holding onto his rattle. He also discovered his feet - it was cute because one of his outfits had little puppies on the feet and he was just so enamoured by them - he would just stare and stare at them. He also really loves to look at the toys on his jumper-roo, but his legs are to short to really feel the ground so he just sits in it and watches the lights for a few minutes.

We also went to Mommy's favorite addiction - the Picture People - to get a "New Year" photo made (see photo in Jan. 4th blog). We go back next weekend for our family portrait so stay tuned!

This photo reminds me of the picture my dad took of me at the same age (see below):

Happy New Year!

January 4, 2008

In lieu of our Christmas letter this year, I decided to do a little end of the year recap on the blog.

Well 2007 certainly started off a little rocky, but turned out to be our greatest year! After almost 5 years with Homecomings Financial, Chris and about 900 other people found themselves being laid off as the Mortgage Industry started to plummet early in the year. Chris was very lucky to be able to quickly find employment outside the industry as a Revenue Analyst for Hilton's Corporate office in Dallas. Also in February, my firm Jenkens & Gilchrist - one of Dallas' oldest and largest law firms, unraveled as groups of its lawyers moved en masse to other firms. Our practice group, the largest Corporate Immigration group in Texas joined the largest Corporate Immigration firm in California, Berry Appleman & Leiden. They are a very family friendly work environment opposed to the long, high stress hours at J&G.

Then during all of this transition, Chris and I found out that we were expecting a child. We were so excited, especially after being just the two of us (plus three doggies) for the past 9 years. And not to mention we found out on Valentine's Day (how romantic)!

Between Chris learning the ropes on his new job and my being inundated with H-1B Cap Cases and Greencards, we were kept pretty busy during the spring and summer (Chris is still busy).

Then finally Fall was upon us and that was when all the blessings started to roll in... First, all of the gifts that people bestowed upon our growing little family (which we are eternally grateful for). Then, Chris' parents moved up from Houston and are now just 15 miles down the road. Then of course - 'crème de la crème' - Marshall's birth! I always thought that playing with babies was fun, but nothing is more enjoyable than having one of your own. Everyday is better than the one before and Chris and I look forward to our time with Marshall in 2008. Happy New Year!
