Chris and I are very excited to finally get a blog up and running. Some of our friends also have blogs and it is an amazing way to keep friends and family in the loop. I hope that we are up for the responsibility of keeping it updated.
Speaking of responsibility, we are even more excited about having Marshall come into our lives. After nine years of dating and marriage, we've felt that we've practiced responsibility long enough on our dogs (Molly, Boris and Kohl) and are ready to bring a child into our lives. This journey these first twenty weeks have been amazing. We were so nervous that first trimester that something might happen, but now here we are into week 20 and I can already feel him kicking. Hopefully in the next coming weeks Chris can feel Marshall too.
Already we are learning so much about his personality. He's usually pretty active around 3:00pm-5:00pm; so Chris and I better have some sports (swimming of course) and activities lined up for him in the afternoon when he leaves his momma and gets bigger.
We've also found that Marshall is very shy when it comes to his sonograms. He really just likes to show us his feet and hands. He doesn't cooperate well with the sonogramist and she calls him a little "stinker." My other favorite line from her is "I haven't had a baby this uncooperative in a while." His second sonogram he wouldn't show her the back of his neck to look for fluid, and at week 18, he decided he'd cross his legs and not show us what was between them. At first I thought Marshall might be obstinate, but after some reflection, I think he's just a really laid back kid and doesn't let other things bother him too much. He sounds like his mom.
Marshall also isn't very fond of thunderstorms. They really scare him and his starts flipping all around in his momma's tummy. Luckily for his momma and daddy, the second gender sonogram was on a day with really bad thunderstorms and he gave us a look at what his gender is and turned toward the “camera” so the sonogramist could get a 3-D photo of his face. It is really amazing the technology that Dr. Greebon has upgraded in his office! Chris and I have this awesome experience of getting to bond with Marshall and see what he is like even at 20 weeks.
We can't wait until October! Well Momma and daddy have a lot of planning (and cleaning to do), so we'll try to keep our family and friends updated on our progress as often as possible.
Below I've included some "pre-blog" pictures of Marshall and I as we've progressed through the pregnancy.
